The Supreme Court of Western Australia is Western Australia’s highest court and main appeal court.
The Supreme Court of Western Australia deals with civil claims for debt or damages of more than $750,000.
To give some context as to the Supreme Court of Western Australia’s civil workload, the Annual Report of the Department of Justice for the financial year ended 30 June 2018 records that in 2017/18:
- finalised 2,968 civil cases; or
- finalised 7,481 probate applications,
with only 80 civil cases being finalised by trial!
