Jarred Johnstone | Legal Practitioner Director

Jarred was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia in 2012.

Jarred's work primarily involves dispute resolution and litigation in the areas of property law, commercial law, estate planning and family law. Jarred frequently appears in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court, Family Court and Federal Court for directions hearings, pre-trial conferences, special appointments and mediation conferences.

Prior to Jarred's law career, Jarred was a property valuer and has in excess of seven years' combined experience in property valuations in Australia and South Africa. Jarred's valuation experience has given him significant practical insight into understanding real estate and business valuations, balance sheets, financial statements, lease and licence agreements, subdivisions and developments.

Doris Matias

Doris Matias | Consultant

Doris was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia in 2001.

Doris brings a wealth of experience and skills to her role, having practised in multi-disciplinary areas prior to specialising in family law and achieving a Masters in Applied Law Family Law in 2012.

Doris' passion for the law is demonstrated in her desire to gain new skills through continued further education, teaching and specialised training. Doris is a lecturer at the College of Law WA teaching family law units in the Masters of Applied Law Program since 2012. Trained in alternative dispute resolution, mediation and collaborative law, Doris is committed to providing less restrictive means to litigation as an alternative approach to resolving conflicts.

Outside of work, with a strong interest in community work, Doris volunteers her time to various organisations and enjoys spending time experimenting in the kitchen and relaxing with her dogs, family and friends.

Experience:

Doris has represented same-sex, de facto and married couples including grandparents and third-party interveners living in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong, Philippines and the United States of America.

Doris has dealt with complex child-related matters including interstate and international relocation, adoption, surrogacy arrangements, Hague convention issues, private international law, child protection issues and child maintenance trusts. Doris is also an Independent Children's Lawyer.

Doris has experience in financial issues involving farming matters, corporate and trust structures and financial agreements that include third parties.

Kevin Barry

Kevin Barry

Kevin Barry | Senior Associate

Kevin completed a Bachelors degree in Law and German in Trinity College Dublin (LLB Ling Ger) before completing a Master of Laws (LLM) in 2011 in the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nurnberg. Kevin completed a equivalency program in Edith Cowan University in 2013 (LLB) before completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Grad Dip LP) before becoming admitted as a lawyer in Western Australia in 2013.

Kevin has worked exclusively in family law in a number of boutique law firms since being admitted. Kevin has a special interest in children's matters and spousal maintenance applications.

Kevin has been a long term volunteer at the Citizens Advice Bureau for a number of years and regularly assists as a duty lawyer at the Family Court of Western Australia.

Outside of work, Kevin is a keen gardener and rugby fan.

Shiva Karimpour

Shiva Karimpour

Shiva Karimpour | Senior Associate

Shiva Karimpour completed a Bachelor of Laws & Bachelor of Arts at Murdoch University in 2012 and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the Australian National University in June 2013. Shiva was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia in September 2013 and commenced with Johnstone Crouse Lawyers in August 2019.

Shiva's experience has been diverse, having practiced as a solicitor in both regional WA and Perth in private practice and with various community legal centres. Shiva practices in all areas of family law, restraining order matters and care and protection matters and has appeared in the Family Court of Western Australia, Federal Circuit Court, Magistrates Courts in Western Australia and the Children's Court.

Raymond Johnstone

Raymond Johnstone | Lawyer

Raymond was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia in 2019.

Raymond focused his legal studies on alternative dispute resolution, mediation and legal costs which led him to develop a keen interest in cost sensible legal services. Raymond's deep passion for the law and litigation leads him to go above and beyond for clients. As he would put it, I strive to have a law career in the service of others, living up to the professional ideal which, as described by Sir Anthony Mason, '[ought not to be the pursuit of wealth but [rather the pursuit of] public service]'.

Prior to joining the Johnstone Crouse Lawyers team Raymond worked in industrial relations and employment law where Raymond represented employees in employment disputes both in the workplace and in the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
